Formed in 2026 by a handful of sport air-rifle shooters at Rietvlei, GHFTA is the new provincial sanctioning body for Hunter Field Target across Gauteng — a SAHFTA affiliate and custodian of the Gauteng League, the Provincial Championships and the provincial team selected for Nationals.

The crest accompanies every GHFTA-issued scorecard, range-officer certification and affiliation letter. It incorporates the shooter in kneeling position — the defining HFT discipline — framed by the laurel of provincial recognition and the navy-and-gold of the Gauteng Province.

§01 · Our remit
What the Association does.
GHFTA sanctions the provincial league, certifies range officers, publishes the annual safety directive, administers chronograph compliance, and maintains the scoring ledger used to select Gauteng's team for the SAHFTA Nationals. We work closely with member clubs but do not operate ranges ourselves — each affiliate remains independent.
How we are governed.
The Association is a registered non-profit administered by an elected seven-member Executive Committee, re-elected each March at the Annual General Meeting. A standing Safety Committee reviews incidents and course certifications on a rolling basis.

Founded at Rietvlei
A nucleus of sport air-rifle shooters meets to constitute Gauteng's first dedicated HFT provincial body and codify the inaugural league rules.
Affiliation to SAHFTA
GHFTA is recognised as the Gauteng provincial affiliate within the national SAHFTA framework.
First AGM & Executive elected
The founding Executive Committee is elected; the seal, motto and provincial colours are adopted.
Inaugural league opens
Round 01 of the Gauteng League is fired — the first sanctioned provincial shoot under GHFTA colours.
Provincial Championships
First Gauteng Provincial Championship contested; the inaugural provincial team is selected for Nationals.
